*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*So, to start with, this was a fun story. The plot is interesting and unusual, plus it involves sci-fi, which I love. I loved the aliens and the author did a great job creating this world and these aliens. I liked Berwyck (the male lead) well enough, and I was drawn into parts of the story.
However, I was expecting a lot from the book after I read the blurb, and while I enjoyed the story, I was a bit underwhelmed. The biggest disappointment was Jerusa. This was a perfect set-up for a strong heroine, but Jerusa just didn't deliver. She was constantly complaining and not doing anything to change her situation. She's the definition of a damsel in distress, and annoyed the heck out of me by the end. There were a few more minor areas that annoyed me, but the lack of real characterization was the biggest. Plus, the cliffhanger ending partially annoyed me as well.
All in all, this was an okay read for me. I see a lot of potential in not only this series, but also this author, and I will probably be giving book 2 a read as well when it comes out.
